You've Come a Long Way, Baby

What it was:

What it is:

Is Clif's Crawdad getting more delicious or what?

Someday I'll update the tying instructions.  Anyone interested?

Update: Here's an instructional video on this fly.

  1. And some people eat crawdads...like Quill. They just don't look too tasty to me. Nice job...those eyes really pop out at ya!

  2. They aren't. I prefer crab or even frog legs over crawdads. This one does look tasty though. :)

  3. Very, very nice. Not as tasty as a Snickers, but damn close. Sweet tie Clif.

  5. Clif:

One more thing.......I have found that if I am tying bottom flies (like a presume this one is), it is very helpful to tie them on 60 or 30 degree jig hooks. They are much more snag resistant. If you are interested, I have about 200 of them. I will be willing to send a few to try. I think you will find the fly much easier to fish with.

  6. @Dramsel and Owl: Design for the fisherman, not the fish...right?

@T-Rage: I prefer payday over snickers and crawdaddies.

@Jonn: I need to replenish my olive hackle stash before I can get a video made. Used the last one to make the above. But stay tuned, I'll get around to it.

  7. The first version looks like the start of an AWESOME frog pattern....You have the kicking legs already. Now you just need some more profile and a way to make sure that hook remains weedless

Clif reserves the right to delete your comment if he is so inclined, but he is a pretty liberal guy so post away and see what happens.
